Curb Appeal Checklist

• Inspect the outside grounds. Remove any building materials, scrap wood, discarded household items, etc. from the property. Store garbage cans in the garage. Encourage yourself- you are going to move all this anyway-soon, so therefore go ahead and move it now.  Remember we get use to our own clutter- but others are seeing it for the first time. LESS IS MORE!
• Check the home from the roof line down.
  • Is the roof free and clear from obstructions, moss and overhanging tree limbs?
  • Are the gutters clear and neatly hung?
  • Are the windows clean and free from obstructions (such as overgrown bushes or trees- how do they grow so fast)?
  • Are bushes, trees and shrubs neatly pruned?
• Inspect the condition of the paint or siding.
  • Is it time to power wash the siding?
  • Is touch up paint needed?
  • Is the front door in good shape?  (Your Front door is the most important- look for any woodrot, scars from Fido and children's smudges- first impression is super important.)
  • This is a great place to put a new fern or two, blooming pot of flowers, holly or greenery- depending on the season... wreathes are great for all seasons- they say welcome, you want to live here.
• Do flower beds need an upgrade?
• Are plants neatly pruned?
• Is the bed free and clear of weeds?
• Is the bed properly mulched?
• Keep the lawn neatly groomed and edges trimmed.

You do all this and if you are like me- you say- why I am moving, the house looks great!  Why didn't I do this while I was living here!  But, remember your next place will be even better- and maybe you will keep your next house more spiffy- well maybe not,  but for sure you just added value to your home- your realtor will love you for it.  Especially if your realtor is me.
